[ Since the breach Kara has taken the time to adjust to being herself again, aand then a few hours to sit and cry at the sight of her parent’s home on Argo. She knew that she was here to revive her planet and win back her old life, but it was a lot to take in in a relatively short time. The empty house, the cold darkness outside windows that once showed magnificent sunsets and the sparkling crystal spires of some of the finest architecture on Krypton. Her clothes, more comfortable than she even remembered.

But finally she has collected herself, and put on her favorite green dress with a white cape pinned to it around her shoulders. It feels nice. It fits. She addresses the camera with dignity if not confidence. ]

Hello. My name is Kara Zor-El, and I’m a new warden here. Looking over your network I understand that the… last few days is a somewhat regular occurance? [ This she’s not so sure of, and she really hopes she doesn’t sound like a total moron. Still, only one way to find out. ]

I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me more specifically what exactly happened?

I’d also like to know how much experience you have in treating Kryptonians, if any.

[ooc | Kara has Kryptonite poisoning, which for our purposes is basically radiation poisoning. In canon this will probably be a plot device, but I don't care or want to deal with it, so free cr to the doctor that picks up her treatment! ]

[ She is ever polite, for all that she's still rather terrified by the whole ordeal. She's dying, and she doesn't want to. But maybe, with the resources of a million alternate universes (and how wild is that?) there's a solution that Dr. Veritas hasn't tried.

She makes her way hastily to the infirmary, but she does walk. She isn't accustomed enough to these halls to want to risk super speed. When she enters she looks around for the doctor she spoke to on the network. ]

Dr. Banner? Hello. I'm Kara.

Hello, Kara. I'm-- well, Bruce Banner. Nice to meet you.

[ He offers a hand that is-- warmer than normal, and a smile that is somewhat cool and awkward, because that's Bruce in a nutshell. ]

I've already had some materials dispensed, so I should be able to work up rounds of treatment. It'll probably work a lot like chemotherapy, from what I've read. Thankfully, I'm an expert in radiopharmaceuticals, so you're in good hands.

[ She smiles and takes his hand to shake. With pleasantries taken care of, she moves further into the infirmary to get comfortable. ]

I've never heard of chemotherapy. A doctor on Earth was trying to help me at my cousin's request, but her treatments weren't completely effective.

It's a treatment for a variety of celluar diseases, usually mutations in cell production. Sometimes brought on by outside agents, sometimes simple congenital.

Oh, hmm. [ She muses on that. There hasn't been disease of that variety on Krypton in... decades, at the least. ]

I'm not really sure what that would entail, apart from the obvious. [ She does know what radio-pharmaceuticals are, at least. ]

But if you've treated Kryptonians before I'm sure you know what you're doing. [ She just hopes he doesn't need to take her blood or something, but that is very difficult. ]

We've had Kryptonians. He never required treatment, however.

But I'm used to -- altered and nonhuman biology.

I'm just concerned because I seem to be more or less invulnerable. I haven't had so much as a scrape since I crashed on Earth. [ And she still doesn't really know how her powers work. It's worrisome. ]

[ She nods, forcing the uncertainty from her face. ]

Of course I'll defer to your experience. I should think the Admiral would want to keep me alive long enough to complete my deal.

[ She's got a lot to learn about the barge-- but he won'[t tell her about being people swept, or anything else, just yet. Doesn't want to damage her ideas just now. ]

I've got some reading to do on this- -are you experiencing symptoms, or--

[ This she is accustomed to, although checkups are usually just that - checkups. She has no real experience with illness.

She describes her symptoms to him clearly and concisely, the feeling of weakness, nausea, even the way that proximity to yellow sunlight makes them lessen. It is, in a nutshell, radiation sickness. The sort that would be deadly if she hadn't been treated so quickly, but might still kill her given time. ]

[ Well, this is an area he's a expert in. The sunlight bit helps-- he starts describing light-box therapy to stave off symptoms --a few hours every day of intense, concentrated radiation-- and explains how it paralells to chemotherapy and radition treatment as best he can without talking over his her head. ]

[ Congratulations, you've got an expert on your problem -- or at least, its related medicine - right here. This is what he was going to do, before he got snatched up by the military; use the power of the Atom to improve healthcare! ]

[ She's clever enough to follow his explanation, though she doesn't have the experience or specific knowledge to come up with it on her own. It makes enough sense that she figures it sounds like it would probably help. ]

Should I come here for treatment then? Every day?

Until we have a better grasp of how the regimen will work, yes. As we gauge your progress we can see how well you're doing and go from there.

I gather I won't have much else to do for a while anyway. How long does it normally take to be assigned?

It varies. I was assigned the day I arrived. Some people go months between inmates.

Months? [ It's not really a question but a surprised statement. Whole months until she would even get the chance to try to bring Krypton back. That's... discouraging. ]

I suppose I'll have to find something to do with my time besides getting medical treatment.

Study, help others with their inmates, so on. Usually we have more wardens than inmates, so that's simply a fact of life here.

[ She considers that. She definitely wants to spend time studying. There's so much about other worlds that she doesn't know. ]

That makes sense, if most of the inmates are violent. But how would I help someone else with their inmate? I don't really know what I'm supposed to do.

It'll vary.For the most part? They're people who need friends and support, in their struggles. Just like anyone else.

[ She's silent for a long moment while she considers that. She could use a few friends herself. She left two back on Earth, but she couldn't spend time with them without bringing some violence to their doorstep. That wasn't really a concern here, and literally every other friend she had is dead.

She should probably stop thinking about it. ]

That sounds... well, not easy, but doable. At least I'm not expected to give them therapy or something. [ She tries a smile, just because. ]

Just -- human connection and friendship can be important to wardens and inmates alike. Don't be afraid to get to us people on both sides of the fence.
