001 - Begin at the beginning

[ Since the breach Kara has taken the time to adjust to being herself again, aand then a few hours to sit and cry at the sight of her parent’s home on Argo. She knew that she was here to revive her planet and win back her old life, but it was a lot to take in in a relatively short time. The empty house, the cold darkness outside windows that once showed magnificent sunsets and the sparkling crystal spires of some of the finest architecture on Krypton. Her clothes, more comfortable than she even remembered.

But finally she has collected herself, and put on her favorite green dress with a white cape pinned to it around her shoulders. It feels nice. It fits. She addresses the camera with dignity if not confidence. ]

Hello. My name is Kara Zor-El, and I’m a new warden here. Looking over your network I understand that the… last few days is a somewhat regular occurance? [ This she’s not so sure of, and she really hopes she doesn’t sound like a total moron. Still, only one way to find out. ]

I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me more specifically what exactly happened?

I’d also like to know how much experience you have in treating Kryptonians, if any.

[ooc | Kara has Kryptonite poisoning, which for our purposes is basically radiation poisoning. In canon this will probably be a plot device, but I don't care or want to deal with it, so free cr to the doctor that picks up her treatment! ]

I've never experienced anything like it. Do you know how it works?

From a technical perspective? No. I've heard theories, including that it's magic, which essentially means don't question it since you won't get a good answer.

It seems a little precise to be purely magical, though. In my opinion.

[ She grimaces. What even is magic? It's not really an answer at all. ]

I'll have to take your word for it. I wasn't expecting to have to deal with so much weirdness so soon.

[He's about to jump straight into the welcome back shpiel, when he realizes she doesn't know what's going on.

Great. The broad smile for someone he recognizes is still fading to a less bright, but still wide, expression when he clicks on the video.]

Hey. I'm Dean, and I wish we could. That doesn't happen quite as often as some-a the other shit around here, for what it's worth.

[ She's not at all sure why his smile or fading, and she can only wonder. A frown turns to an uncertain expression as she contemplates that question. ]

Maybe? What qualifies as 'good' for a breach?

[Even faded, there's plenty of friendliness left in Dean. And amusement.]

Are you traumatized right now?

I'm a little disturbed. [ Maybe more than a little. She can't even have her family in a pretend life? ] It's a too early to know if I'm traumatized, I think.

[ She's mostly joking. Probably. ]

I'm Dr. Banner. We've some experience-- [ Clark was here, Kon doesn't... quite count ] but it's fairly minimal. But if we request information the admiral usually provides for us.

I'm... well, I'm sick. But I'm still invulnerable so I'm not sure how well treatment will work. What do you think, Dr. Banner?

You'd be surprised what we can do. Whether it's energy therapy, different sorts of medication. Do you have a condition I should be requesting information on? Chronic or acute? Congenital?

Kryptonite poisoning. Acute. We cured most common diseases on Krypton. There's nothing else. [ Of this she is positive. Kryptonians have bred themselves to perfection, just about. ]

[This is...well...he's not even sure what to make of this. She looks and sounds like the Kara he knows, but that means nothing here. Well, she looks like the Kara he knows in his world for the most part. She's looking quite sickly.]

You! [ There's surprise in her eyes, but no malice. Considering he helped her not to destroy the world, she's not really sure what to call him. 'Kon' seems mean. ]

Are you... an inmate here? [ Since he's a clone, she just sort of figures. ]

[Of course she'd think he was an Inmate. Studies the feed, trying to figure out what time she is from. Hm, she's not screaming abomination and trying to kill him. And he doubts it's from around the time H'el first arrived, or else she'd likely be an Inmate.]

No, I graduated several months ago. I'm a Warden now.

Oh. [ Again, genuine surprise. He doesn't seem so bad, but he's still a clone... ] Congratulations. That's great.

Um... [ she chews her thumbnail nervously. ] Has anything been done about your... genetic problem? [ are you going to snap and murder everyone ]

Hello, Kara. [And then it turns wry.] It's hard to say what exactly happens in breaches. As far as I can figure, we're folded up into another universe for a while.

I thought multiversal theory was just a theory. The idea of a universe folding... There are research facilities here, aren't there? Is anyone researching the phenomenon?

I see the others have already taken the liberty to explain what happened to you so I won't repeat anything they've already told you.

I would suggest seeking out Chromie though. She was so kind as to create a pamphlet that explains the basics of the Barge and what to expect. It doesn't answer everything, of course, but I believe it's a good place to start.

A pamphlet? That's handy. [ Chromie. She sets the name in her memory and determines to seek the individual out. ]

[Snow doesn't sweat the titles thing. She gets a little uncomfortable actually if friends start dropping her whole name or the queen thing.]
